WordPress.com is not only one of the most popular blogging platform on the internet but it is a community which helps you to writer better blog posts and maintain good blogging habit. They have many programs which encourage you to blog and maintain your personal blog or website.
At last wordpress.com developed a desptop application for Windows desktop. This is not Windows Universal App. This is an Win32 application. This means you can install it in Windows 7 also.
The app is fast and the looks is identical of the website. You will feel the website has opened in your desktop application. The application supports two steps authentication.
Now you can manage your sites, write and publish, and even customize your site and view stats from a dedicated app in your Windows Start Menu. Use it for your sites on WordPress.com, as well as for self-hosted WordPress sites. (For the latter, you’ll just need to have the Jetpack plugininstalled to connect your site.)

You can download the application here.
WordPress.com team has created a new editor for writing blog posts. The previous one was quite fast and responsive. This is more fluid. The options while you are writing a new post like ‘category’, ‘tags’, ‘sharing’ are handy. The most nice feature is the ‘preview’ functionality. It opens a popup windows to show you the post before actually publish it. You can see your post in different screen sizes (desktop, tab and mobile) from that popup window. This is something that was not before and a welcome change.
Currently I am writing this post with new editor.
You can read more about the new editor at official WordPress.com blog.
Now wordpress.com users can use Google fonts in their free wordpress.com website also. Many times I saw a theme but I did not like the font. Now I can change the font and select one which I like. You can select from 30 Google fonts for your site absolutely free.
